Darryn Peterson scouting report

The Jayhawks guard/wing might be more wing than guard.

ESPN's most recent NBA Mock Draft has Darryn Peterson being selected second overall by the Pacers. Peruse through many big boards or talk to scouts – both paths will make it clear Peterson is one of the best prospects in the 2026 class.

The Pacers could, lottery pending, have a top-four pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Naturally, a closer look at Peterson's skills is required. He's the highest-rated guard by almost every draft analyst, though I came away from watching him thinking he played more like a wing on offense.

Similar to the plan with AJ Dybantsa, I'll write a full deep dive into Peterson's game if the Pacers keep their pick. For now, Maxwell Baumbach from No Ceilings joined me for a podcast discussing Peterson and how his game could translate to the pros. I feel like his best skills aren't the ones I read about online. Plus, a chat about his weaknesses and possible Pacers fit. You can find the conversation below in both audio and video formats, or wherever you prefer to listen to podcasts.

This same exercise will be done for Caleb Wilson tomorrow, then Cam Boozer next week.
